Artist Statement:
I got the opportunity to go to New Orleans in the middle of my last semester here at East Central, obviously I said yes and I'm so glad I did. I decided to focus on the LGBTQ community for my project while I was there. Everyone is so accepting of everyone, you could feel so loved from a complete stranger. I got to visit the first ever gay bar, Cafe Lafitte in Exile on Bourbon Street, that is still open to this day (the green photo). I learned more about true acceptance and love on the streets of New Orleans, than I have anywhere else, that's why I chose to filter each photo a color of the rainbow. Hope you enjoy my colorful photos!
