ECU Adopted OER Definitions
The following definitions were assembled by the OER Working Group in Fall of 2022 and approved by Faculty Senate on November 11, 2022 (Opens a new tab).

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization defines Open Educational Resources (OER) as "teaching, learning and research materials in any medium – digital or otherwise – that reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation and redistribution by others with no or limited restrictions."
