It's easy to get frustrated while conducting research! Here are some tools that I like to use while I'm researching:
Unpaywall Extension
Unpaywall is a browser extension that harvests open access (that means free!) articles from over 50,000 publishers and repositories.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) for articles:
Interlibrary loan is a service that the library offers to current students and faculty. We borrow articles and books from other library at no cost to faculty, and usually no cost to students. We'll alert you if it costs anything (it usually doesn't). Most articles are sent directly to your ECU email! Plan accordingly, sometimes ILL takes anywhere from 10 minutes to a week.
Document Delivery:
Is there an article, chapter, or review that you need from the library, but you're unable to get to the library? You can fill out this form and we can deliver any of those things to you electronically, usually within a business day!
Zotero Reference Software:
Zotero (it's free!!) helps me keep track of articles I want to read, use, and cite. You can also download PDFs, use a browser extension to work seamlessly from laptop to mobile. It can create bibliographies from different citation styles and put them into word.
Librarians:
Sometimes when I'm really stuck, I'll contact other librarians. Sometimes it's helpful to talk it out with someone! Make an appointment or email me by clicking on the buttons below my picture.
