This exhibition is a cumulative statement of the students' preparation to proceed in an art career beyond the baccalaureate degree.

Dixon Exhibit Panorama

Blood of the Industry:
The Point of Departure

Korina Dixon

Artist Statement:

The emphasis on an economic system and biological system both depend on one major force, the core rallying points that create bridges from one object to the next. The bridges create an edge to the physical appearance of the objects forming a diversity in the line helping it form a linear or an organic structure.

About the Artist:

I grew up in a small town that is ran by the oil industry. As a child I was always interested in drawing lines and shapes and seeing all the pipes and the size of the refinery I became intrigued. As my senior year approached I started to focus more on the visual aspect of the pipe work and how they communicated to people as they drove by. Within the same year we discovered a blood disorder in my toddler so that began shaping my new journey into my new images of blood cells. As I studied at ECU and learned new techniques I allowed that to influence my choice of medium. As my work advances I plan on pushing the limits of my work to 3D printing.
