Types of search terms

  • Broader terms: Use a broader term if your search results in too few resources
  • Narrower terms: Use a narrower term if your search results in too many resources. You can tell if you have too many resources if the resources are about different topics that could not be made into a cohesive paper.
  • Synonyms: Use synonyms to make sure you are finding a variety of perspectives on your topic.
