CETL - The Center of Excellence in Teaching and Learning

CETL offers many opportunities for professional development right here at East Central University over various points in the year.

Summer Professional Development Sponsored by NASNTI

Every summer, CETL partners with NASNTI to provide a professional development workshop for faculty where they can receive a stipend for participating and attending. Attendees also received a Credly badge (pictured on the left) that can be included in faculty members portfolios for promotion, tenure, etc. For the summer of 2024, CETL helped ECU faculty incorporate a Plus One approach into their courses and assessments by providing students with just one more way to show understanding and learning.

Fall Professional Development Workshop

This fall, CETL is offering a smaller-scale professional development workshop designed to help ECU faculty incorporate the Plus-One approach into their courses and assessments. This workshop provides practical strategies to offer students just one more way to demonstrate their understanding and learning, enhancing inclusivity and adaptability in your teaching. Although not sponsored by NASNTI, this workshop continues our commitment to supporting faculty in creating effective and engaging learning experiences.

Individualized Department Workshops

CETL offers ECU faculty workshops on creating and revising exams that challenge students and promote critical thinking. One workshop, "Creating Complex Exams for Complex Minds: Educational Design for Today's World," aligns with our Plus-One approach to Universal Design for Learning (UDL), ensuring assessments are inclusive, adaptable, and accessible to all students--giving students just one more opportunity to show what they know and have learned. Join us to explore innovative strategies that enhance student engagement and support success in a diverse learning environment.
