There are two methods. The one recommended by Respondus is to do a practice test that will not be counted towards the students’ final grades and use that as a troubleshooting dry run. The second is to set the test up in Respondus and send in a help desk ticket (ext. 884) to be given access to the test student account, which will need to be added to your class. The downside to this is that the test must be visible in your course for this to work.
Respondus Lockdown Browser does not currently work with Chromebooks, unfortunately.
You can contact the library or CETL to see what your options for getting technology to students who don’t have it are. In some cases, William in CETL might be able to help you redesign some of your testing strategies for application-based open-book testing.
The Password Settings when setting up Lockdown Browser for a test should generally be left blank. It is meant for tests being proctored at a shared location, and should generally not be used for remote test taking in an online course setting. Do not give students your other Respondus password ever, or change it as it will allow them to bypass Lockdown Browser, and changing it will break the link between Blackboard and Respondus for the exam.
